The struggle itself is seen in the word! The Trail of Tears was the forced migration of the Cherokee Native Americans from their lands east of the Mississippi to an area in present-day Oklahoma. It is called the Trail of Tears because of the devastating effects on the Cherokee tribe.
During the Trail of
Tears the Native Americans were unfairly treated and sometimes ended up
paying the price of death. The Native Americans were pushed around by the
